Meet the Doula
Your husband almost fainted when you gashed your thumbs on a goldfish bowl—goodness knows what he’ll do in the delivery room.
More and more women are turning to doulas – hired birthing assistants – to help them through labour. To make it easier for parents to pick the right one, Amanda Spakowski of The Nesting Place and Dr. Jennifer Wise of Urban Chiropractic have started Toronto’s only Doula Speed Dating.
Parents begin their search with mini-interviews with several doulas. Once they’ve narrowed it down, they can then pursue a more in-depth dialogue in their own time.
Here’s hoping labour is as quick and easy.
